GARRET SHIGENAKA

I have been in the graphic design field for over 10 years. Most of my work now has been in Photoshop. For the past two years, I have been in a seasonal position with CAPS Association. They do all of the studio photography for Kawasaki Motor Company North America. My position there this past year was Color Lead. I receive the photos from studio, clean them up, clip them out, and color correct them to Kawasaki standards. I also handled any modifications that needed to be done in a case where parts had to be replaced because of changes to current year models, and we opted to just photoshop instead of shooting the whole machine. I was also able to shoot a few of the machines for part replacement when the photographer had to fly back to Japan. We used a medium format Mamiya tethered to a Mac using Capture One.

 

As far as design, I have worked in fashion, retail, promotions, technology, and websites. I was schooled in Swiss-style design, so I think my strong suit is clean and corporate, although I have the ability to go beyond and design in other styles.

 

I have experience with product photography. I have my own home studio with lights and a DSLR camera. I have been shooting with a DSLR for 10 years now.

 

I enjoy skateboarding and skateboard photography. I have been blessed to be able to shoot the X Games, Combi Pool Classic, Protec Pool Party, Soul Bowl at the US Open of Surfing, and many other events held in Southern California.
