    About Me

    My name is Garret Shigenaka, but most of the skateboard community knows me as "Naka." The name came from my username on Concrete Disciples.com.

    Through skateboarding, I have met the greatest bunch of people in my life. Skateboarders. We are passionate about the wooden planks we ride. Pros, Ams, kids, parents, it's all been such a blessing. I still fan out skating with the guys I looked up to when I would turn the pages of a Thrasher or Transworld back in the day.

    Not only have I been able to meet and skate with some amazing people, I've been able to meet and shoot with some great photographers. Ray Zimmerman AKA MRZ is one I met in 2005 and he has been a great friend and mentor. I credit him with where my skateboard photography is today. He's good people. Brian Fick is another photog I admire, who took the photo above. He is a beast on a skateboard too.

    I have been shooting skateboarding for about 16 years now. Skateboarding and skateboard photography have brought me so much. I shoot photos and skate, because I have fun doing it.
